Sake Sommelier Hong Kong – Sake Tasting Course - AWSEC

How long does a sommelier course last?

The course of a sommelier in Hong Kong takes up two whole days for completion. The course is considered to go at a fast pace and is on a level that is above the basic foundation one. A lot of information can be gained here, apart from the basic things that you need to know about wine and beverages. For some cases, it may begin at 8:00 in the morning and finish at around 6:00 in the evening on both days. The following mentions how the course of Sake Tasting In Hong Kong unfolds.

When the second day of the course arrives, a theoretical examination is conducted for those that have taken the course. However, there is no need to panic as all of the questions on the test are in the pattern of multiple-choice questions. All of the MCQ’s will be based on whatever proceedings have taken place during the time of the course. Everything that you have learned in those two days can be asked so you need to prepare accordingly. For the sake of passing the exam, the percentage cut off is set at a minimum of 60% for obtaining the introductory Sommelier course CMS certificate.

You are eligible to sit for the Certified Sommelier Examinations (including the theory, service as well as tasting) only after you pass the Introductory Course Examination.

When it comes to sake tasting, you will learn about the fragrance that varies from one type of sake to the other. The ones that do not have a characteristic smell pass for gentle, quiet and straightforward sake pass for being able to survive on their own presence and flavor alone.

From the fragrance of the sake, we also come to know about the place it hails from. This is taught in sake tasting in Hong Kong as the style of the place is also presented in the way that the dish is prepared.

Apart from this, with a Sommelier Hong Kong, you will also get to know about the taste of the sake, whether it falls under a dry or sweet name tag. Some of the sake are tender and soft, whereas the others tend to lean towards the opposite side.

The impact or explosiveness is also observed when testing sake. The content of alcohol, the type of rice, milling rate, acid content, and specific gravity are all of the factors that have a say on the impact of sake; therefore, it is important to study them.

The richness or body of the sake is a prominent part of sake as a whole. The beverage’s presence should be consistent or else the beverage fails. Sake can feel airy and quiet to full-bodied, thick, heavy and fat against the tongue. Some sake is creamy and rich in their presence.

Next, we come to the delicacy of the beverage. Some sake is made up of constituents that are too dark, heavy or bitter. Therefore, it becomes necessary to study and evaluate all of these in the duration of the course.
