Although there are no prerequisites for doing WSET Levels 1-3, here the guidelines we suggest to our students:
To choose between Level 1 and Level 2, you should first consider if you have enough wine experience. This includes; exposure to structured wine classes, reading wine books, drinking different types of wines often or even worked in wine-related industry before. If you are already familiar with “major grape varieties + countries” and “basic tasting technique/food and wine pairing”, it is possible for you to directly join the Level 2 course. If you are still unsure whether you go directly to Level 2, we recommend starting from Level 1 and progressing from there.
If you are choosing between WSET Level 2 and 3, here is the advice that our wine educators give:
If you are able to distinguish major grape varieties by tasting the wine or you have the ability to blind taste wines, you can try joining Level 3 directly. Sometimes, candidates wish to directly join our Level 3 course because they have been in the related industry for more than 8 years. In this case, he/she can directly join Level 3, however, we recommend these students to attend every session and try avoiding skipping any lessons.
No, the WSET courses that are taught in Cantonese use the English study materials and exams are also in English. The only difference is that the Educator will teacher the course in Cantonese.
