AWSEC is committed to protecting the personal data about you which we collect from you.

This document outlines our data collection, processing, and storage practices, all of which are guided by the six Data Protection Principles detailed in the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO).

NOTE: For the purposes of providing courses and exams from awarding bodies, it is occasionally required that we transfer some of your personal data to those awarding bodies. The type of personal data which needs to be shared with awarding bodies is typically full name, date of birth, and email address. As your personal data will be handled in accordance with the awarding body’s data privacy policy and may be used by awarding bodies to contact you directly, you may wish to also refer to the data privacy policy of the relevant awarding body.

Why We Collect Your Data

We collect your personal data for a number of reasons and always on the basis of only collecting the minimum personal data required for achieving the purpose for which it was collected.

Though not exhaustive, here are some examples of the reasons that we collect your personal data:

a) To send you marketing information about events and courses that you may be interested in

b) To process your participation in the event or course you have applied for

c) To register you for an examination

d) To verify your identity, for example when attending an examination

e) To maintain records of your results

f) To provide online services for you

g) To personalise and improve the services we offer to you

What Personal Data We Collect

While this depends on the nature of the event or course you will be joining or the nature of your engagement with us, the sort of Personal Data we may collect, though not exhaustive, may include:

a) Your name and date of birth

b) Some form of official identification such as your Hong Kong Identity Card Number

c) Your telephone number and email address 

There may be occasions where some of the Personal Data we collect from you is sensitive in nature, such as details of an illness in the form of a medical certificate if you are unable to attend an examination or details required for Reasonable Adjustments or Special Consideration for examinations.

Protecting Your Data

We take a number of steps to ensure your Data Privacy including, but not limited to, secure storage, limited access and timely disposal.

Access & Correction

In accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO), you have the right of access to, and to request correction of, your Personal Data. If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please email us (learningsupport@awsec.com) with details of what you require access to or correction of. We will strive to respond to your request within 3 working days, and supply a copy of the data, or make the requested correction, within 15 working days of the date of receipt of the request.

We may need to charge you for any cost(s) of complying with your request, such as printing and postage, and we will inform you what fee, if any, may be charged as soon as possible (not later than 15 working days after receiving your request). We will then comply with your request within 10 working days of receiving confirmation that payment has been made.
