Dear AWSEC students,
Please be informed that the AWSEC office and reception will be closed for renovation from July 1st to August 10th.

During this period our classes and classrooms will operate as normal and some temporary arrangements have been made to minimise disruption, as per the following :
- A temporary reception desk where you can enrol, make payments, and make enquiries is available on Room 1501, Riesling (Mon to Fri 10:00 – 17:00) or Room 1609, 16th Floor (Mon to Fri 17:00 – 21:00, Sat & Sun 10:00-18:00)
- The AWSEC hotline will remain unchanged at 2837-9100.
- Client Services staff will be on duty as normal, but will be stationed on 16th Floor. You will be able to contact them for assistance by calling 2837-9100.

Following services will be suspended:
- Certificate pick-up service
- Aroma kit purchase
- Textbook collection before courses start (Your textbook will be distributed on the first session)
- Library service
- Zoom service

WSET Level 1 Award in Wines


COURSE INFORMATION
NEW & FUN ACTIVITIES IN AN UPDATED FORMAT -- BRAND NEW COURSE MATERIALS AND MORE STYLES OF WINE FOR TASTING!

This course:

  • Introduces main types and styles of wine
  • Covers skills useful for everyone, including how to describe wine, how to store and serve wine
  • Includes enlightening food and wine pairing exercise
  • Has more interactive activities to deepen your knowledge and understanding of wine
  • Is suitable for front-line staff involved in the service or sales or anyone interested in wines
  • Teaches proficiency in international dining etiquette and confidence in choosing and talking about wine in social settings
  • Includes 3 sessions (6 hours in total), including a 45-minute closed-book exam consists of 30 multiple-choice questions

This qualification provides a basic introduction to the main types and styles of wine available to front-line staff involved in the service or sale of wine. The qualification aims to provide the basic product knowledge and skills in the storage and service of wine required to prepare a person for their first job in wine hospitality or retail.

Examination:  A closed-book examination that consists of 30 multiple-choice questions worth one mark each

Exam Duration: 45 Minutes

Passing Grade: 70%
